POSITION:
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Academic Programming
 
SALARY RANGE:
Commensurate with Experience and Education

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful experience and licensed as Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent preferred
  • Successful experience and licensed as a building administrator required
  • Master’s Degree in Curriculum, Administration, or other related area required
  • Advanced degree(s) in Education or a related area beyond a Master’s preferred
  • Must possess understanding and experience in the areas of curriculum development, assessment development, and implementation of instructional strategies that are research-based.
  • Must have an understanding of Professional Learning Communities, the appropriate use of data to inform decisions, the Marzano Art and Science of Teaching, Quality Schools Principles, Malcolm Baldrige Quality Principles, and the impact of poverty on learning
  • Knowledge of educational initiatives related to Pre-K-12 along with experience in successful staff and professional development models, quality Integrated Technology in Instruction, Balanced Literacy, and Inquiry Math.
  • Knowledge of tests and measurements, student growth models, state assessments and data analysis for building and classroom effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of College and Career Pathways

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administration of Pre-K-12 articulated instructional program for the school corporation, including curriculum development, instructional strategies, assessment, and data analysis of student achievement
  • Supports the Director of Curriculum in evaluating professional development plans and requests.
  • Administration of aligned support programs including guidance, media, social workers, and health services
  • Administration of procedures for maintenance of student records
  • Analyzes staffing and programming needs in coordination with the Director of Personnel
  • Participates in the collective bargaining process and formal/informal discussion committees as directed by the Superintendent
  • Assists in the evaluation of building administrators as directed by the Superintendent
  • Supervises the district’s academic coaching cadre
  • Assists with staff and media to develop and maintain effective school/community relations.
  • Coordinates district professional development and growth activities for Pre-K-12 professional staff with Director of Pre-K-12 Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Coordinates the selection of instructional materials
  • Serves as the corporation Test Coordinator
  • Monitors and facilitates district RTI plan
  • Coordinates/oversees Title I, II, III, and ELL programs and supervises staff with Director of Federal Grants
  • Coordinates/oversees grant writing and state reporting for Federal Programs, High Ability, and others
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to develop and implement the district strategic plan, goals and continuous school improvement process in alignment with individual school improvement plans
  • Communicates district progress to school board, staff, and community
  • Leads and evaluates district academic programs including curriculum development.
  • Coordinates summer school programs and summer school state reports
  • Completes IDOE reports in areas of calendar, summer school, and ADM
  • Attends and participates in all administrative meetings, school board meetings, and preparing reports as needed
  • Supports building principals in serious student discipline matters
  • Assists with the development of board policies and administrative regulations related to curriculum and instruction
  • Interprets educational philosophy, policies, and administrative rules of the district to staff, students, and community
  • Analyzes instructional technology programming in coordination with the Director of Technology
  • Collaborates with all directors to ensure high quality teaching and learning throughout the district for all students Pre-k - 12
  • All other duties designated by the Superintendent
